Beim Supermoto-Crash in Italien hat sich Nicky am Samstag, 28.08.2004 leider das Schlüsselbein gebrochen. Ihm wurde von Dr. Costa nach einer kurzer OP eine Platte auf den gebrochenen Knochen gesetzt. Leider ist ungewiß ob er in Portugal starten kann! Hoffen wir das alle gut geht!!

03.09.2004 - Nicky Hayden ruled out at Estoril

Nach Bestätigung durch das Repsol Honda Team wird Nicky nicht am "Grande Premio Marlboro de Portugal" teilnehmen! Das Team möchte keine weiteren Verletzungen an dem gebrochenen Schlüsselbein riskieren, die den Rest der Saison gefährden könnten.

Nicky wurde zurück in die USA geschickt, um sich zu Hause vollständig zu erholen und fit für Motegi zu sein, dem ersten von 4 Rennen innerhalb von Wochenenden.

Kommentar Nicky:

Natürlich bin ich sehr entäuscht, aber ich kann nichts ändern. (Nicky wurde eine Platte mit 7 Schrauben an den Knochen operiert!) Es sah eigentlich recht gut aus, aber ich bin nicht 100%-ig fit. Ich hätte gerne probiert ob es funktioniert, aber so denkt wohl ein Rennfahrer.

Aus Sicht des Teams ist es besser für Motegi und für den Rest der Saison so fit wie möglich zu sein. - Ich respektiere das und denke, daß sie wahrscheinlich recht haben. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, daß ich genauso denke!!!
